Tokusatsu is a Japanese term that describes a genre of entertainment that usually features kaiju (giant monsters), giant robots and superheroes. It is most often associated with the Godzilla and Gamera franchises and with such popular Japanese television dramas as Ultraman and Kamen Rider. It literally means “special effects”.
